• Commodore ( United States) wrecked off the coast of Florida

April

• Barga ( Belgium) declared to be missing, having departed Huelva, Spain for Antwerp on 30 March.^[1]

29 April

• Ketch Ada ( Australia) wrecked at Newcastle, New South Wales.

May

1 May

• Ketch Ability ( Australia) driven ashore at Cape Hawke Bay during a storm, along with four other ships.

3 May

• Bruxelles ( Belgium) ran aground on St. Pierre Island, Seychelles, a total loss.^[1]

June

12 June

• Gangut ( Russian Empire) struck an uncharted rock and sank in the Gulf of Finland

16 June

• Foudroyant ( Royal Navy) driven ashore at Blackpool, Lancashire and wrecked.

July

20 July

• Concha ( Belgium) collided with Saint Fillans ( United Kingdom) off the Owers Lightship, English Channel and sank.^[1]

October

16 October

• Pelican ( United Kingdom) last sighting.^[1]

December

2 December

• Margate surfboat Friend to all Nations ( United Kingdom) capsized with the loss of nine of the thirteen crew.^[2]
• Prince Albert de Belgique ( Belgium) collided at Antwerp with the sailing ship Larnaca ( United Kingdom) and sank. Wreck raised on 6 July 1900.^[3]
